Flames Chris Higgins joins Flames on professional try-out

Calgary Flames @NHLFlames
Chris Higgins will attend the #Flames training camp on a professional try-out agreement ~

Quote:
The Calgary Flames announced today that left wing Chris Higgins will join the club for training camp on a professional try-out (PTO). The Smithtown, New York native has spent the last six seasons with the Vancouver Canucks notching 62 goals and 80 assists for 142 points and 82 penalty minutes in 314 games. This is Higgins’ second stint with the Flames organization after he was traded to Calgary in 2009-10 and played 12 games and recorded three points (2G, 1A).

I guess a little more competition can't be a bad thing, but I'd say his chances of making the big club are pretty slim.

Welly welly welly, not so quick to leave this time, are you.

Can't see him earning a contract and a spot, but gives the team a veteran body in camp.

Always like Higgins, he can fill the role Jooris left if he makes the team.

Let's have a Ryan Wilson (former Flame now post-apex) every year just to make ourselves feel better about our Kulaks and Hathaways.

I still dislike Higgins and as such want him gone.

I wish this happened 3 years ago before his body fell apart.

Wonder if him and Gulitzan are buddies from the Canuck days and he's trying to give him another chance.

Yeah I could see this move having some input from Gulutzan. This is another body that will be competitions for the same spot as Shinkaruk and Tkachuk

Well, the Vancouver days were only last season where one was a coach and the other was a player, so obviously a connection there.

Saw him play with Utica last season.... was far and away the most uninterested player on the ice. Granted, gotta be hard to go from NHL to AHL after so long but was clear to anyone who watched him, he was strictly collecting a pay check.

Can't wait to see the ways in which Can't-Score Chris Higgins fails to score in the preseason.
