Default Oh ya...we've got Brouwer, Chiasson and Pribyl

After patiently waiting for the draft then the contract signings, I almost forgot that we picked these guys up. Can you imagine if all 3 of these guys perform well this year? On top of that if Frolik, Bennett and Backlund keep on pace? Tons of pipe dreams to look forward to this year and that doesn't even include our top performers.

Is it friggin October yet????

Does anyone know how to say Pribyl's name properly? I haven't a clue.

Not sure how one forgets a 4.5 millon dollar 4 year commitment to a 31 year old middle sixer ...

What does middle six mean?

As far as I'm concerned, you got your top six and you got your bottom six.

Then you got your top pair, middle pair and your bottom pair.

2nd/3rd line. The game has changed somewhat where it's not just your top two lines that are important, the depth has bleed where the third line is just as important and has as good players as your second line.

The 4th line is where you still bury your garbage players but the third line is elevated now. Guys like Frolik, Brouwer, Backlund etc are players that can play up and down your roster, 2nd line, 3rd line.

In the end it's rather meaningless.

Would love to see Brouwer outperform Lucic. Doubt it tough since he'll probably be playing with mcdavid.

Almost positive Brouwer won't disappoint but it would be nice if one of the other two could actually become something.

Plus $4.5 million in a $73 cap world is 2nd/3rd line money. The flames have 3 guys in Backlund, Brouwer and Frolik all very good guys who will play a big role on this team for about $12 mil. IMO that is a quality cap hit

Pribyl, Brouwer, Chaisson give the Flames some serious meat on the right side and I could see a combined total of 40 goals. That is pretty good considering how many we got last year and how many we could get from LW, C and D (and Frolik)

I have my doubts about Chiasson, but hopefully he can turn into a replacement for David Jones/Joe Colborne with better skating. Hoping for 30 points.

Pribyl, on the other hand, is a wild card. He has potential 50-point upside, IMO. Don't see him becoming Panarin, but he could really strike gold, potentially on the top line.

If Pribyl does that, that leaves Brouwer with Bennett and maybe even Tkachuk on the second line. I'd be very happy with that -- Brouwer was a fantastic mentor in StL last year and he has the capacity now to really help the development of two young stars.

My best-case scenario for the coming year:

Gaudreau - Monahan - Pribyl
Tkachuk - Bennett - Brouwer
Chiasson - Backlund - Frolik
Ferland - Stajan - Bouma
Vey/Hathaway

Giordano - Brodie
Jokipakka - Hamilton
Engelland - Wideman
Wotherspoon

Elliott
Johnson

If Higgins does well in camp and makes the team, then I see him taking Chiasson's spot, bumping Alex down into Bouma's spot on the right side. Brad could try to trade Bouma after that.

Hopefully, Brouwer, Chiasson, and Pribyl can all become major components of this team. In reality, I see maybe two of them doing so.

Higgins isn't making this team. He's displacing other team's vets during the pre-season to meet the NHL's minimum veteran rule.

I don't see Pribyl making an impact in the NHL this year. Injuries and adjustments to the North American game make it seem he should spend the year in the AHL, if it were up to me. Would be happy to be wrong on this one. Hopefully Chiasson can be an improvement on Jones and Brouwer should be a nice add.

He could definitely make the team. Anyone can make this team, especially in the bottom six. If he has a good camp, maybe he's a Flame in 16-17.

Sometimes, I somehow forget about Tkachuk. Then when I remember that we have him, I become happy. It's nice. The guy had over a goal per game in the OHL playoffs.

Brouwer will be interesting, I think he'll be put into a position to succeed.

No, not just "anyone" can make the team. Only those players who are good enough to play on this Flames roster can make the team, and Higgens simply is not good enough.
