Default One Game This Season

While I was laughing at Scott Cullen's "scientific" predictions for the top scorers and thinking how goofy most of the professional sports forecasting really is and how desperate those guys are to write something/anything of interest, I also thought of trying to guess what would be the most exciting game this season for Calgary.

It came to a choice between two games for me: vs. Oilers on Jan 21 (because of how intense that divisional game is likely going to be due to the looming trade deadline and playoff chances) or vs. Pittsburgh on Mar 13 (because of how seldom we can see Crosby here). On the balance, I would still choose the Jan 21 game against Edmonton.

I know, lots of people here have season tickets, game packs etc., so do I. But, if you didn't and were offered to attend only one Flames game this season (regular), which game would that be and why?

I dunno, I think it was one or two seasons ago there was this crazy game against Florida. It was tons of fun to be at! It's not always the expected games that end up being the best.

I'll choose the game where they clinch a playoff spot. That's the one I want to be at.

Whichever game of the 2 or 3 in Anaheim that we break the curse. That'll be the one. (an if there, of course)

Or torching the Oil to open up their shiny new toilet bowl.

Thursday March 9th

Flames host the Habs. Always love those games.

Also The Flames play in Honda Center on my birthday. THAT would be a great present is the death of the Curse.

I would suggest a rivalry night (Oilers, Canucks and to a lesser extent Leafs, Habs and maybe Ducks).

It's cool to see Crosby I guess, but like, not that cool. I'd much rather see the Flames pound the Oilers and Canucks.

Just my $0.02.

I'll always find the time for every game, but I make damn sure I plan around a few teams to make sure I don't miss them.
I'll say the November 25th Eastern road trip through Philly and Boston just for the Gaudreau factor.

Gone to Flames vs Habs the past two years as I'm good buddies with some Habs fans and its be a great time both games, granted last years a was a little rough for me. Pretty fun game at the dome as its usually about 60-40 Flames to Habs fans and the games have been a fast paced high skill affair

This is purely wishful thinking, but I'm gonna go with CBJ and a hopeful Torts meltdown.

My advice is to not pick the game being played after the Super Bowl.

I always pick the Islanders vs Flames when choosing my games. Years ago the Flames were playing the Isles in the pre-season. That game Phaneuf absolutely phaneuf'd Okposo. The stretcher came out. A line brawl broke out. There were fights all night. And Theo Fleury was attempting his comback. That night he also scored the shootout winner. Ever since then me and my buddy have gone to every Islanders game.

Last year at the game Matt Moulson was running around and the game had 4 fights. The year before the game was feisty. Flames/Isles games are really underrated. Both teams are at their chirpy best usually.

Coming in to see the Flames vs. Blues. Elliott & Brouwer against their old team, never seen Tarasenko in person and its early enough in the season that I'll hopefully get to see Tkachuk play. Also like games at the start of the year as hopes have not yet been dashed.

It's hard to predict what will be a good game. I don't think the more expensive games to go to are better that often. The Arizona game could easily be a more enjoyable game to watch than the Penguins. I am a season ticket holder so it's different.
But if I were a more casual fan I would rather go to 2-3 games against less prestigious teams. It always amazes me how my Leaf tickets sell for $200 on ticket exchange....but noone will touch my Hurricane tickets for $55.
