Default The Hockey News projections

Was just at a friends house and he had the The hockey news fantasy guide, was in a rush, so I did not see all of it but on the front they McDavid and his point projection was at 96 points, they had Johnny at 80 and Monahan at 68(I think), do you guys agree with these, do you think that Johnny can get say 10-12 more points and close that gap? I will go to his house over the weekend and post others.

I think projecting Johnny at 80 is reasonable . McDavid at 96 seems a bit high to me, but the kid could go off.

That's pretty much what McDavid was trending. Kid's going to score. Johnny did almost 80 last year, so really these are conservative estimates.

Do you think Johnny getting 80+ points cancel out McDavids 96 point(I mean from a Flames point of view).

I'll take the under on McDavid scoring 96, only because outside of Kane's 106 points last year, the next highest was Benn at 89....on a STACKED Dallas offensive club. McDavid wasn't healthy long enough to go through a slump due to fatigue or whatever else hits a young player in a full NHL season. If he stays healthy, he's going to go through that at some point this year.

He's good, but I think 85 points is far more likely for McDavid, especially without Hall there to help out.

The rest of those estimates seem fair.

I think both Johnny and McDavid will end up around 90.
I'll be optimistic and say Bennett hits 60, taking over the top C spot from Monahan halfway through the year, who also ends up at 60.

You are obsessed with Gaudreau vs McDavid. Not sure why.

Because McDavid is their best player, I want the Flames to win and in order to win we have to beat the best teams and best players, so we have to, go for the throat(meaning do anything to win).

In the Iginla era, we had a elite winger but no #1 Center, now we have 2 elite # 1 centres and maybe 2 elite # 1 wingers.

Why?

McDavid could score 120 points this season, and the Oilers will still be a terrible team. As I see it, it doesn't matter how many more points he scores than every player on the Flames. The Oilers are spinning their wheels.

The Flames were unbeaten the years Iginla was the best player on the ice, these are just facts.

Seems a little high for McDavid imo. The kid is going to be good, no doubt, but better than Benn after just half a season? Not so sure

I wouldnt be surprised to see all 3 of those predictions coming out pretty accurate. Barring injury theres a pretty good chance that all 3 guys end up either + or - 5 pts of those totals.

that is not at all how hockey works...how often does the leagues leading scorer hoist the cup?

McDavid could put up 120 and the Oilers will still be a bad team

You're forgetting guys -- McDavid's best season is now already in the books. The longer you're an Oiler, the more the no goodness permeates. Under 70 points. Assuming he plays a full year.
