2016 Calgarypuck Prospect Rankings Summary
http://www.calgarypuck.com/2016/08/2...kings-summary/
Thanks again to all for voting for the past 6 weeks.
With every year I truly believe this process adds more value and depth.
Once again where do you see that Maginot Line (point where prospects become suspects on the list). Do you agree with mine?

Cool to see an all-up summary.
I'd set the lines at
Maginot Line: 18 - Dube and above.
IBM line: Would put Tkahcuk and Gillies above that line, but not Jankowski. So 3, but excluding Janko.

I would put the Maginot line at #20, after Hathaway. Thought about including Culkin but I need to see how his season goes.

Maginot line is near Dube but I am high on Phillips, Falkovsky and Mattson who appear too low in my eyes. So I would say 18.5.5.5 If that makes sense. If the order included those three and did not include Pollock, That would be a maginot line at 20.
IBM line is at four for me. I may be in the minority but I think Jankowski and Kylington are better prospects than Gillies, whom I have more reservations about. So taking out Gillies it would be at three.

My Maginot line occurs right after Fox at 16. I doubt any of the guys after him will ever play 100 games in the NHL.
IBM line is at 3 for me. Not sold on Kylington as a blue chipper, but still a good prospect.

Small correction is that Killington was drafted with the 2nd last pick of the second round. Not the final pick.
But great summary. I love the prospect poll that runs every summer

for me it comes down to how to interpret the blue chip thing. If it's a total then I have 2 (Tkachuk and Gillies). But if it's how far down the list can you go then it's 1 as I'm not ready to put Jankowski in that company.
Would love to be wrong though!
Others have merit going forward but would need to show some things developmentally over the next couple of years.
Kylington, Hickey and Andersson all have the potential to be upper roster players (top 4 dmean) which pushes them towards that bluechip status. I think Kylington has the tools to be a clear cut guy on that list for sure.
I'm not ready to write off Poirier as a blue chip prospect yet, but he has something to prove.
I like the Parsons and Fox projections as they stand, will be interesting to see where they lie on the list next summer, especially if they both make the US team for the WJC.

Well done. (One small nit "bored" not "board")
I agree with the Maginot/IBM lines. I have been a Jankowski supporter all along, but he and Gillies still have far too many questions to be considered blue-chippers in my view.
I like what CP pulled together, for the most part. Great to see Kulak steadily moving up. He is my darkhorse this year as the Jooris/Hathaway guy (although wouldn't be quite as shocking coming from 12).

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.

Maginot 10
IBM 3
Think Janko and gillies could be really good in the future.

I put my Maginot line at 16 (Fox), and the IBM line at 4 (Kylington).

I think Kylington not only has the tools but the team has shown a belief in him as a prospect evidenced by him getting that game 82 (which could easily have gone to Culkin or no one at all).
Defensemen to play an NHL game as an 18 year olds since 2000-01:
Aaron Ekblad (159 GP and counting)
Zach Bogosian (478 GP and counting)
Rostislav Klesla (659 GP)
Nikita Zadorov (89 GP and counting)
Lukas Krajicek (328 GP)
Oliver Kylington (1GP and counting)

IBM line is #1 only because Jankowski is at #2 and not #3. How anyone thought Jankowski is more promising than Gillies is beyond me.
Because Pribyl is ranked where he is, the Maginot line is #10

The slow progression of Kulak is an interesting trend. It is a shame he'll likely be the odd man out at training camp since he is waiver eligible.

Maybe just maybe we can move one of our vet D man, or at least give Kulak the call up when Smid goes on IR.
I'd love to see Kulak and Wotherspoon on the team. Not as a pairing though.

For some reason Hockeyreference omitted a bunch of results to the previous search. I searched again, and have added the players omitted:
Rasmus Ristolainen
Adam Larsson
Victor Hedman
Noah Hanifin
Cam Fowler
Drew Doughty
Brent Burns
Luke Schenn
Luca Sbisa
Alex Pietrangelo
Dmitry Kulikov
Steve Eminger
I think the expanded list only furthers my assertion that the Flames rewarding Kylington with a game as an 18 year old has some meaning. As far as I can recall most of these players were Blue Chippers even Luke Schenn who Burke himself was hyping to high hell.

Kulak is waiver exempt next season. Wotherspoon is waiver eligible though.

I think he meant that ... Kulak easy to cut since he isn't eligible for waivers.
I still think there's another move coming on the blueline. Could be an interesting training camp.
