I wonder what Treliving weas being offered for him at the 2015 deadline. Kid sure fell far in the last year it would seem.

That leaves Van Brabant, Arnold, Nakladal, Ortio and Poulin as expired Flames contracts who are yet to find a new home.

Surprised a team hasn't taken a flyer on Nakladal as in his limited NHL time he looked better than the average AHL call-up. Maybe he's only willing to accept a one year deal?

^ did you mean accept a one way deal?

If any team were willing to offer Nakladal a one way deal, I think he would jump on it.

Those were the same GM's calling about Wideman this past deadline...

Guess there is more money in Switzerland vs. the AHL. He should be pretty good over there.

Nak might be being offered more money overseas than NHL teams are willing to give him.

Nah.

I can understand the thought process behind the belief that the Flames are saying there is interest in Wideman when there really isn't any, but that same thought process doesn't apply to Shore IMO.

The only GM's calling about Wideman are calling to laugh at us for having to pay him.

Interest could be as little as "we will take this guy off your hands for nothing".
I imagine there is interest in virtually every player and prospect in the league. But we have no clue what return teams are prepared to give up.

Surprised by this, Drew Shore was just one of may players in the system that could easily have been brought up to replace many of the veterans we have / had on our roster who currently still have NHL jobs without negatively impacting the teams performance.

Surprised he chose to go to Europe vs. catching on with another NHL team and play top 9 minutes for them. Weird.

Considering Flames acquired him for a low level prospect, I really doubt they were suddenly getting unsolicited offers any better than that after acquiring him. Whatever ,I won't begrudge a GM for hyping a recent acquisition.

In hindsight, quite a meaningless trade. I doubt Knight becomes an NHLer although I guess he didn't look out of place when called up. He hasn't exactly been tearing up the AHL.

I remember Panther fans being beside themselves for Tallon giving up on Shore.

What an ultimately useless trade.

I would totally do this if I was a retiring NHLer who doesnt want to retire. Playing in Europe seems like a complete blast.

Decent pay, fewer games, slower tempo, less physically demanding...living in Europe. Whats not to like?

I cant wait until France gets a team!

You missed one of the best things about playing in Switzerland - almost no travel at all.

Statistically it looks like Knight played well for the Panthers in his call-up(s) this year. 7 points in 20 games and was very good in the dot.

All part of Drew Shore's master plan, he's going to go light up Hiller.

Well good for Knight. I still think this will end up being a nothing-for-nothing trade. Shore's cup of coffee as an NHLer is done now and I doubt he will ever get another look. I can't see Knight becoming anything more than what Shore was either and will go down the same path as his trade mate.

Play for mid six figures in Europe or potentially play for under $100,000 in the AHL. No brainer since he wasnt exactly knocking on the door.
