Since digital cameras have been out for many many years now, I am thinking that I probably should join the rest of the world and pick me up one of these things.

I think I have it narrowed down to 2. They are pretty much similar in features, and price. I am just wondering if anyone that has had more experience with digital cameras, might be able to provide some more insight.

The 2 I am looking at are:
Sony DSCH1 Cyber-shot & Canon Powershot S2-IS

If anyone has any other suggestions, I am all ears. Some features that I would be looking for:
Decent pixel size (4+ mega-pixels)
Decent zoom
Ability to do video w/ audio (I understand that the quality and size will be nothing in comparison with an actual video camera, but it would be nice to have it available).

Also, the memory that is available in most digital cameras now, is this flash memory, or something similar. And do all memory modules work with all digital cameras?

Thanks.

The new goggles also do nothing.

www.dpreview.com is the site that you'll want to visit for reviews on digital cameras.

There's a few different kinds of memory for digital cameras, CF, SD, xD, Memory Stick, etc.. so not all memory modules work with all cameras. You'll have to get the kind that works with yours. That's not really a limitation though.

Thanks photon.

Do you know the difference between the different types of memory?
Like what does CF, SD, xD etc mean?

As far as I know, they're just acronyms for different types of digital memory cards. Ex/ CF = Compact Flash, SD = Secure Digital. Depending on what make make/brand of camera you use, you need a certain type. You can get a 1GB chip costs for ~$100 at many places now.

Also remember the most important part with a zoom with digital cameras is that you are getting good optical zoom, digital zoom on a camera just doens't come out very clear. So really make sure it has good optical zoom. But like one of the posters above mentioned, go to dpreview.com, tons and tons of info on the many different digitals available.
