Had to check several times to make sure this wasn't from the onion.

“I was really more worried about [the patient] than myself, because as long as I’ve got my hands up, they’re not going to shoot me,” Kinsey told WSVN. “This is what I’m thinking, ‘They’re not going to shoot me.’ Wow, was I wrong.”
The officer replied "I don't know" when the guy asked why he was shot.
Seriously, how do black people feel safe in the US? And how can cops keep protecting these idiots that are making all of them look bad. Good cops should be absolutely livid at bad cops, but I'm not going to feel sorry for them. If they were truly good cops they wouldn't tolerate this kind of anarchy and wouldn't vouch for their demented brothers.

I posted this in the "I Don't Want to Live on this Planet" thread. It's horrifying, but this attempted excuse is downright embarrassing.

"Bringing in an outside agency assures our commitment to transparency and objectivity in a very sensitive matter," he said.
Prosecutors said they'll decide whether the officer should be charged after the state agency completes its investigation.
"They will provide us with their factual findings and conclusions," Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle said. "At that time, we will conduct our own investigation and review all of the evidence to determine whether the actions of the shooting officer constitute a criminal act that can be proven beyond and to the exclusion of every reasonable doubt."
Why is there no video of the actual event? There is video of before and after but not the shooting?
It sounds bad but I will reserve judgement until a full video or body cam video is release.
At least you're consistent. Consistent in that there is never enough video evidence or eyewitness testimony to suggest a cop did something wrong, but consistent.

Yep, that looks to be pure gross negligence right there.

His own story is that he was trying to shoot an autistic man with a toy truck playing on the side of the road, missed, and hit his caretaker, who was lying on the ground.
Three times.
I'm usually of the same mind as you - "let's see how the facts shake out" - but I'm at a loss as to how this is anything other than obscene negligence.

We have not heard anything about the guns that are being used. In some of these cases the cops seem completely bewildered that they shot the person. Is it possible the triggers on these service guns are too sensitive? Not trying to defend them in any way, but I do wonder if it is a contributing factor. Also, I thought they were not supposed to cover the trigger until they actually intend to shoot. Is that not correct?
It's amazing that people run to the defence of anyone thats shot by police as they are innocent till proven guilty but right away the cop is guilty.
I admit it sounds bad, and very likely could result in charges for the officer. But internet justice to the rescue and the cop is guilty.
Oh and nice to see you too Pepsi, missed you.
Dude, this happens in almost every thread. Go look through the amber alert thread and see how many people are wishing horrible things to happen to the dude before he's even had his day in court. The only time it doesn't happen is when a famous person sexually assaults someone. Then it's all "Well hold on now..."

Cops are nervous. Its not unlikely that this cop was thinking this bizarre situation was a setup for an ambush given what has been going on lately. I wouldnt be surprised to hear that the cop had poor training, little experience, or both Thankfully the victim survived.
