Default Last thing on the checklist - Sign Monahan and Gaudreau

I've been away on vacation so please feel free to lock this thread if there is a current one, but I haven't heard this community getting too upset they aren't signed yet. Do you think these two not being signed changed the Flames approach on free agency? What does everyone think the hold up is? After all these signings what do you think they'll sign for?

I think the hold up is simply there being no doubt that it gets done so concentrating on the other things on the to do list first. No reason for concern

In my lineup projections I've had them coming in at 13.7 mil long term, but I have no idea why they're not signed yet. Not too concerned, but it would be nice to have the actual contracts in place.

Gaudreau can't be offer sheeted so i'm not worried about that.

Monahan was at the draft on stage during the first round so i'm not worried about him signing an offer sheet else where. It shows he's very committed to the organization even without a contract.

Both seem optimistic it will get done sooner than later.. these 2 signings are going to probably be the most important signings in franchise history. No need to rush them

They'll sign for a combined total of something less than $14.9M AAV.

I wouldn't be surprised to see them sign on the same day.

Tkachuk isn't signed yet either.

Time to panic?

Anything under 14M combined would be fantastic.

Considering they also need to sign Tkachuk, it'll be less than that.

They don't need to sign him, but it would be nice if he made the team this year.

I also said it would be less than that. And Tkachuk's impact on the cap won't matter unless he plays 10 or more games. I don't think that's a given.

You have to make sure they will both be in the City when announced. Schedules need to be confirmed. It will be a big deal and full press conference and photo op. Organizational milestone. Qualified RFAs usually are not signed till late July or August.

Wonder if they will sign exact same term and money similar style like Kane & Toews? Ie 8 years 7 mill.

"we'll keep banging away at it" - Brad Treliving

I've noticed he also uses this saying a lot.

I certainly don't think there is any need to fret, the Flames are in full control over the situations. But, I will say the two sides in each case must not have been that close to start, and or there must be / have been some fairly major sticking points to over come given these deals aren't done yet. Will be very interesting to see where we land on each.

Treliving might be working on some other options to free up cap space given the Flames only have around 14.9 left and he probably wants to get all of Gaudreau, Monahan, Tkachuk and Nakladal signed.

I can see another trade coming where the Flames free up some money.

That's what I think is happening anyway.

Teams can exceed the cap by 10% in the off season. They aren't waiting on signing our RFAs because of cap.
