Yep. Call me crazy but I think I'd rather take Benn/Seguin over Kane/Toews.
Especially if Benn/Seguin come 2-3 million cheaper long term.

As a pending UFA, he had quite a bit of leverage. Good for Dallas, and good for Benn.

Yeah that's not bad at all. Rarely does a signing of a high end pending UFA make them more valuable, but I'd much rather have 8x9.5 of Jamie Benn rather than the 1 year he has left if I were to assess it on value.

I'd pay that to have Benn on this team easily. He is a ridiculously good hockey player. He certainly didn't take a discount, but Dallas must be happy to have him locked up forever. I believe Seguin still has a few years left on a pretty friendly deal too.

I'd take Kane/Toews every time. They have 3 cups each and Toews defence is miles better than both and Kane is better offensively than both as well.

I think the 3 cups argument is silly. Hockey is a team sport. Benn and Seguin are the younger, cheaper duo and haven't had the luxury of playing for a stacked team like Chicago.
Toews is not miles better defensively than Benn. If I were starting a team today and had the option I'd take Benn and Seguin
