Seemed like a good coach. For how bad that team was they seemed to be hanging in a lot of games they had no business in.

What else was he supposed to do with that roster? I thought they overachieved if anything.

Was this a Linden call or Benning call, I wonder.

Well, at least now Willie has the free time to finish whatever it is he keeps chewing behind the bench.

It was the coaches challenge that iced it for him. Anti-tank.

The Avs and the Nucks taking the Coil approach... hire alumn to steer the ship and then fire everyone to save your jobs while picking top 3... it's a bold strategy..

Vancouver's Brent Sutter equivalent in their analogous fall from grace.

Do the Canucks bring in Marc Crawford now as their old-school re-tread? Or, does the team try to skip that portion of the comparison and go right to Travis Greene, their Gulutzan equivalent?

He wasn't a good coach and even considering what he was given he should be fired.

But yes he is the least of their concern. There isn't a coach in the league that gets them even remotely close to the playoffs or plays kids that aren't remotely ready for the NHL.

Until Benning is canned the team will be at the bottom of the league. They have some young pieces but the problem is they are average pieces when you look around the league. A bad team doesn't become good by plugging in an average collection of youth.

It's pretty apparent the players checked out over the past few months but Willie had them playing hard most nights. You simply aren't going to win many games when you don't have talent to put the puck in the net. The fact their first line has two 36 year olds on it tells you all you need to know about how lacking the organization is on talent. I can sctually see them being worse next season with another head coach but maybe that's what they want.

If he can't find a head coaching job I wouldn't mind him on the Flames staff.

Good of them to pull the trigger right away and get on with it. I never understand why this kind of decision takes a month or more to get done.
