Default LF: best place to buy weights

I'm looking at getting a cage, a flat bench and bumper plates. I priced out fitness depot and they seemed reasonable. Anybody have any recommendations on who they've dealt with?

I found them reasonable but I bought my cage on kijiji and would recommend that route because people buy a lot of this stuff and then never use it. You may have to be patient, but its worth while.

Bought my cage from Rogue Fitness. I got the R-3. They ship to Canada for free if you bought two, so I found another person (off a Kijiji ad) to go in with me halvsies for one.

Plates and oly bar, I bought from http://www.johnedeals.com/. Pretty decent pricing.

Why are they crappy? Seriously, I don't know anything about bumper plates. Just figured if the weight was accurate is all that matters. Is it better to go with a brand name like Rogue?

Check out Bells of Steel online. I did basically the same thing you are doing and found they had the best prices. Canadian company and Kaevon (the owner) is a pleasure to deal with.

i've gone to auctions over the last few years when I need office furniture. Check out the auction houses and see if there are liquidations of fitness stores or gyms, or personal bankruptcies where the fitness equipment ends up at the auction.

I remember seeing a lot of gym equipment - sometimes brand new, never used in boxes - while I was waiting for an office suite/filing cabinets/whatever I wanted to bid on.

I saw Goodlife selling a couple of their equipment a few months back on kijiji. Not sure if they are still there now.
