Yeah, especially when it is the difference between getting the player or not. Same kind of thing every year. That's nice that you want Brouwer for 3 years instead of 4... but then you don't get him.
If you are going to pay > 4M there should be a chance that the player can will be on the #1 line for some portion of time...... like Hudler was and like Brouwer is expected to be and like Perrault/Frolik are not expected to be.

5x5 and 4x4 is a difference of nearly 10 million dollars. ya.. a bit of a difference for a team that is tight with purse strings and has a lot of young players to pay soon.

Seems pricey. But if they have Laine and Connor on ELC's it helps you splurge on a guy to anchor the third line like Perreault can, and play any position on the line.
