Flames Treliving: We would like to add a defenceman

as said on 960, when asked about if he still working on anything in free agency

indicated most likely depth and they may need to move things around to fit him in

also re Nakladal: with Brodie, Hamilton, and Wideman all playing the right side, it might make more sense for them to add another left shot d-man, but there are always moving pieces (maybe hinting the right side make up may change)

There's this guy on the market, Kris Russell I think he's called... Pretty solid.

I'd love to trade off Wideman and sign Seidenberg and Nakladal for that salary or less.

I reeeeally hope Brad give Nakladal another shot this season.

He did nothing but right things on the ice when he got his chance last season, and his bombs from the point are something to behold.

They need to lose Wideman's salary before they seriously consider signing any other D.

I feel for Wotherspoon. If BT is actively hunting for another LH D then you've gotta think Wotherspoon is looking for the nearest exit.

Let's just say, there's another guy on that list that could probably lose a limb, yet still have other traits that would allow us to identify their play from the other two.

No sleep, not fair to bust my groove when I quoted sureLoss.. It's a trick question teacher!

No thanks.

He was a great Flame while he was here, but I have no desire to bring him back whatsoever.

We need a defence that can disrupt the cycle and make a quick read to get the puck out under control to our forwards.

170 lb Kris Russel struggles to do so.

Could benefit from a true 3/4 guy rather than constantly playing a bottom pairing guy there. But that blue line is pretty full as it is

Brad. Nakladal. Sign. Him.

Dump Wideman. Sign Nakladal. Sign, idk, Matt Carle? He was just bought out, though... sign someone, I don't care.

But sign Nakladal!

They need to sign and trade Nakladal if they aren't going to use him.

RH dmen are at a premium. Given a bit more exposure, I think Nakladal would garner a lot of interest.

For those wondering what defencemen are still left in the UFA market:

It appears the Wideman contract is proving to be a hard sell across the league.

I don't understand why we don't just run with Wideman at this point and hope for anything worse than terrible? We can bury him and still let guys like Nakladal (hoping), Wotherspoon and Kulak get ice time. Hell, put him in Stockton and mentor the young guys. Have we even tried putting him on waivers yet?

I could have sworn Mattias Ohlund had retired.

At this point, without the Monahan and Gaudreau contracts set I think the Flames would have to shed salary somehow before signing anyone else.
