I'm done with this team. I thought Chia would be a smart GM, but he comes in a trades Hal l for Larsson? Like really, that is a type of player Eberle gets or even RNH, but Hall?
Yea I'm done, glad I decided not to buy season tickets this year when my time came on the registry.

They'll get over it, they made their team better today.

Don't take too much joy in this.

So, Edmonton trades away Hall for Larsson. Montreal trades away Subban for Weber. The Leafs don't get Stamkos. Has there been a better day for Flames fans in which our team has done nothing?

I was angry to start.

But I think this will be good in the long term. So who knows. I need beer.

Edmonton got better today, I'm not happy at all.

100% made their team better.

Eberle, RNH, Yakupov and whoever else they were peddling had no value. They weren't going to get anyone near the calibre of even a Larsson without Hall.

Bad trade but the team might have gotten better. Addition by subtraction.

Absolutely. Im not finding to much joy in this. The oilers just made them selves a little tougher to play against.

They needed to make this trade but they got absolutely killed value wise. If they add Lucic and Demers, they might be better, but I don't believe that this trade did that, for me they acquired another 3/4 defenceman and they gave up their best forward excepting McDavid and really only save 1.5 mil a year.

I don't understand why they would go after Lucic and move Hall when they have 3 centres and LW is probably their worst position up front. RNH value is only going to decrease on the third line this year - should have moved him instead and stayed away from Lucic, especially when you already have Maroon and Kassian.

If they add Lucic and Demers their window before cap issues is going to be pretty brief. McDavid get his 10-12 mil a year, Draisaitl likely gets 5 or 6 next summer... they have trouble ahead.

Oilers wouldn't be oilers without trouble

That isn't a given. Larsson is a good young defender, but he's a young developing defender.

Taylor Hall, as dumb as he is, should have been able to land an established defenseman. Not a developing one.

It was terrible asset management.

As for Larsson, because he's still developing, he's going to be counted on to fix things and will be thrown into a toxic, horrid defense-pool. The chance it stunts his growth / causes him to take a step back is HUGE.

I think we were better off with Hall in Edmonton. Now they are at least working on their D.

I was poking fun at my friend, who is an Oilers fan. He told me a co-worker took down the Oilers stuff in his office and tossed it in the trash. My friend is thinking of doing the same.

Did thy really make their team better though? They're not overly offensive to begin with and just took away 65-80 points. Milan Lucic would not replace that.

Larsson is a solid top 4 maybe even top 2 guy. Very little offense though.

Here's to hoping they overpay on Lucic.
