Icon59 Wild/Oilers discussing RNH for Brodin or Dumba

Michael Russo @Russostrib
Lots of steam today that #mnwild and #oilers could partner up tonight. Wild likely targeting Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Oilers Brodin or Dumba

That's pretty fair for both sides.
I don't like it at all.

Dumba > Brodin I think. Good trade for both teams.

I don't think it is fair for both sides. I think Ed. would have to add, personally. I have no faith in RNH not being broken always.

I'm higher on Brodin than Dumba, so I hope the Oilers get Dumba for RNH

... and #4

This would be unfortunate as it would make the oilers better. But imagine the meltdown by oiler fans if all they get is a 3/4 defenseman for one of their amazing 1st overalls!

Yeah poor return on RNH if true. Should've drafted Murray, Lindholm, Rielly, Dumba, etc instead of Yakupov. Ha Ha Stupid Oilers.

Would minni then look at moving Granlund or Koivu or move Granny to wing?

At this point Edmonton should worry about making their team better, and not "winning trades". I think and RNH for Dumba swap might favour the Wild but still makes the Oilers a better team.

apparently the hang up is a 2nd round pick...

The Wild has had trade talks with the Edmonton Oilers about center Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, although all Oilers skilled forwards not named Connor McDavid are also said to be in play. The Oilers appear to want right-shot Matt Dumba and other pieces, including next year’s second-rounder. The problem is the Wild no longer owns that pick.

Only Edmonton would let a 2nd round pick stand in the way of filling a massive hole on their team. They need to take one in the shorts and move on. It is past the point of sad and pathetic at this point.

I don't like how the Oilers would get a lot of cap space in this deal. Hopefully they sign Backes to an albatross contract.

No kidding. I can't believe a 2nd round pick would be a hold up as it's not like another Mitchell Moroz is going to help this franchise. IMO it's probably more along the lines of trying to appease fans and not go player for player as RNH is a 1st overall pick.

which franchise asks for something in a trade that the other doesn't have, and then kills the deal because of it? seriously, wouldn't you know what you were asking for before you negotiated? as EE says, what difference does a non-Hockey News draft pick matter to the oilers anyway?

I do think think there is much value edm is getting for their players except Hall. Maybe Flames should try to steal some forwards like eberble and RNH + someone else for Hamilton , Wiedman and backland.

this would make me shake my head if it was any other team, but when it comes to the Oilers, it doesn't surprise me one bit. Too stubborn and hesitant when it comes to trading their golden boys. Oilers gonna oil.

The Score is noting that Detroit is looking to trade for a D as well.

Watch how it's done, Oilers.

Well, since I much would rather have Backlund with his salary as a 2/3 centre than RNH with his salary and would rather not have Eberle at all, "someone else" had better be McDavid.
