Default Friedman: Radulov unable to find NHL suitor. Returns to KHL

Elliotte Friedman @FriedgeHNIC
Alexander Radulov could not find an NHL team willing to pay his asking price. He has signed with KHL Salavat.

Was reportedly asking for 2 years @ $7.5 mil per

update: apparently Salavat's GM is denying that they have signed Radulov

Doesn't make sense for him to ask so much, imo he would maybe have gotten a PTO or a low offer from a team willing to take him on. IIRC he didn't do much on his return to Nashville.

I'm sure he could have found a suitor if he wasn't Edmontoning his own worth.

PTO?

He had 13 points in 17 games with Nashville, while clearly not being motivated. He lead the team in playoff scoring with 6 points in 8 games...but was scratched because of missing curfew.

He's been tearing up the KHL pretty much since it's inception, almost a lock to finish 1st or 2nd.

Certainly 7.5M is excessive asking price, depending on how low he would have actually signed, but it's a lot closer to his real value than PTO. Understandably that he didn't get anywhere close to that given the risk factor and his past.

And just remember, that he was making much more in the KHL before the ruble crashed. Even today he'll probably make more than 7.5M USD when factoring in taxes.

I wish there was a way for the flames to sign him to play for the oilers. It would be nice to have a guy like him around Mcthefutureislost and the next few first overall picks

If he cares about playing with the best, he would have taken less money. He was prob making 8-10 mill in KHL.

He's like an ex that came crawling back, but with huge demands, and the NHL expressed a collective 'GTFO'.

It's very satisfying!

don't worry, Las Vegas will probably have a vacant position for him next year. Also, he can have as much late-night parties to his heart's desire

He probably could have found a home for 3-4Mil, maybe even 5Mil.
Asking 7.5 is pretty crazy though.
