Matt Martin is awesome, I'd love that.
He'll get paid though. If Bouma is a $2.2M caphit, Martin should be $2.5Mish I would think, though Cizikas got $3.35M!
13/14 and 14/15 he had identical seasons of 8 goals and 6 assists, then last year improved upon those stats with 10 goals and 9 assists.

ugh please no. No more overpaying for bottom 6 forwards. After what his linemate Cizikas got in NY, I'm sure he looks for a big deal too.

Black and blue! Imagine Hathaway, Bouma, Martin and Ferland. What a punishing forecheck.

Matt Martin is like bigger Bouma that doesn't get injured. He's also a beast in the community and with charity work, so you know that goes a long ways with Flames upper management.
Love it.

If Edmonton signs Lucic, in addition to Maroon - I guess you can say this is us stepping into the arms race.
Could be a good value signing assuming he doesn't get a terrible contract. He's got some size, and plays an effective big-man game. Would be a nice addition to our bottom 6.

pass... bouma, ferland, hathaway, bollig, stajan, chaisson, pribyl.
Let a kid from the farm play if we need a spot to fill.

Yeah.
Move Bouma to 4th line C and roll with:
Martin - Bouma - Hathaway
That line would cause destruction and probably pot the odd goal too.

I don't want him, at least not this season. Maybe once we jettison some of the expiring contracts next year but not now.

I like the player, but he's going to get too much money for what he brings. Would prefer to avoid that.

that's what Arthur Staple wrote a few days ago:

Martin would seem to be a fit in a lot of Eastern Conference spots, at least ones that can fit $2.5-3 million per year under the cap.
would you really want the Flames to pay another 4th liner that kind of money?!

I love Martin as well, but agree that we don't need any more bottom 6.

I would be all for this if they have a trade for Bouma lined up. If not, it would make me think that it is an organizational philosophy to die by a thousand cuts.

Eh, if he signed for Bollig money or less, why not?

He won't. He's actually a decent hockey player.

Just Treliving kicking tires, people. If he won't pay Colborne $3m, he probably wouldn't shell it out for a tough guy.
