Agreed, I'd love it if the Flames had him at that deal.

Looks like the Players Emergency Assistance Fund will provided for nicely over the next four years.

They do have him, Deryk Engelland does the same job without the suspensions and for less money.

Steal of a deal for the guy who was their #1 Dman at times. Very reliable, and chalkfull of peripherals. Very physical, hits, blocks shots, tough to play against, and was later put on the 2nd PP unit as he was shooting a lot more and creating offensive chances.

I've loved the way this guy plays and wanted the flames to get him since I saw him. He's an old school defender and something this team desperately needs, he's mean and he's a jerk and he isn't a bad hickey player. He's like a pronger without the offence and I'd love that on the flames. This is a really good contract for the Flyers.

Yes, exactly. This should put the Engelland contract in perspective for all the haters. Pretty much the exact same player, but younger. Gudas is not a great defenseman.

Gudas isn't great but h plays with an edge just about every game, he's a really good 5-6 guy. I love Engeland but he's a good 6-7. They aren't the same at all IMO and I'd do a 1 for 1 deal for them in a heartbeat
