They are also playing in the Oilers home opener are they not?

Lots of battle of Alberta games early on?

At least it isn't the god damned Canucks for once.

Still, I've always disliked rivalry games for the home opener.

Also, stop with this "announce one game then announce more later than announce more after that" crap. Just give me the entire schedule!

Then, they'll take on the Canucks on Oct. 15 at Vancouver for their home opener.

Flames play in Edmonton on the 12th then at home against the Oilers on the 14th.

Starting the season 2-0. I like it.

Then Vancouver you say? 3-0!

Lol, talk about a make or break start to the season. But as long as we don't horrendously crap the bed, I feel good about our chances.

I'm a little sick of seeing them lose the season opener. With the positive steps on a new coach and new starting goalie (and who knows what else) I have high hopes the season gets off to a much beter start. The opposition only strengthens that hope.

Ughhh, I hate our home openers. Always go in with big expectations, then they get murdered by the Canucks or Sharks.

It can often take a while for the team to adjust to a new coach, especially if the playing style is changing drastically (which I think it is in this case).

Yup. I rather they had started out East to start the season.

I remember that year we started against the Penguins, and we got crushed. I had to be there, sigh.

Can we just not do that this year? We never win home openers.

Exactly. I nice long, 5 game road trip to start the season and gel the team is the perfect way to start.

Carolina home opener is Oct. 28th. They start with a long road trip.

Then we play the rest of the NHL after that? 30-0 to start the season looks pretty good to me!

(I wonder how many people will question my math on this...)

I really hope they bring back the Battle of Alberta for the NYE game, that was a fun traditional for a while.
