Avs Draft Review
I took a bit of a different approach this season and targetted high 2nd round picks hoping to turn them into 1sts come draft time.
28th - Tage Thompson.
Wasn't totally excited to get him but he was simply best player available on my list. He seems very raw and very similar to Jankowski in the sense of how much he grew within a year and is adapting to use that size and fill out.
------------
34th - Kale Clague
Was supposed to be a lock in the 1st round coming into this season but didn't really help his draft stock. He reminds me a lot of Josh Morrissey. Could sneak into the late 1st round according to a few rankings out there.
------------
35th - Dennis Cholowski
Lucas Johansen was who I wanted with this pick but was taken a few picks before. He is a little difficult to project playing in the BCHL but again similar to Kale Clague, a lot of rankings have him as a 1st round pick. However I have seen him as low as 51st on some rankings.
----------
38th - Logan Stanley
My note on this big d-man was to not draft. However at 38, I decided to take a chance. I have seen him as high as 10th overall on some rankings, so if he comes anywhere close to that, this could be a home run pick. On the flip side, I have seen him as low as 61st on some rankings. I got 2 d-men I really liked above so I was willing to take a chance.

77th - Trent Frederic
I traded into the 3rd round to take Fredric. He is a really good 2-way centre who is being compared to David Backes. Some scouts have said they could see him going in the high 2nd round so again I am just hoping to see value in this pick. Played great and in key situations in the WJC-18 tourney.
...and others.
