I'm really concerned about all of the athletes going there. It's just been one thing after the other.

Is declaring a public calamity like declaring shenanigans on South Park?

I wonder when countries will get wise to the complete sham that is the olympics. This one has the makings of a complete disaster

In what sense do you mean sham?

Sham in the fact that countries are going into massive debt to build the infrastructure equated to host the games and to me the payoff is negligible at best.
Seems like a joke to me that rio is spending billions, while millions live in squalor with limited educational opportunities and lack of health care..
Look at the recent pan am games in Toronto - they were only over budget by something like $350, 000, 000 and they wiped the hard drives of all the computers - nothing fishy going on there

I wonder if Rio has considered increasing minimum wage and introducing a carbon tax to help dig themselves out of this hole.
