June 15 6 pm Treliving Ticket Holder Information Session
Will be there tonite wearing my avatar. Should be an interesting session especially with all the Head Coach rumors and buyout window starting.
Will see if we can pin down BT on who he likes beyond Tkachuk and Dubois for our 6th pick. Dont want him to give away too much since he may be wheeling and dealing at draft.
Any burning questions we should ask?

Yeah. Ask him about the process of waking up in the morning. Or the process of making a sandwich. Or anything about the process of a process that is processed to a process.

When he says 'The Process', does he mean something conventional like a Cuisinart or something more streamlined like a Vitamix?
We need to learn Treliving's processing methods!

is he leaning towards any buyouts?
is nakladal coming back?
those would be the things i'd ask that just might get an answer
i'd love to know if he is prepared to trade up to 3, but he's not gonna tell anybody anything about that

Ask the obvious one. With Pittsburgh winning a cup, Chicago maintaining their competitive balance and teams like the Kings and Ducks falling short do they still set a premium on big/tough players or will they rethink their approach.

Could you ask him if there are any of the Flames prospects who really impressed him last season?

These the questions I would ask, especially trading up the 3.
Hello Mr. Brad Trevling:
Do you think you will be able to get someone good for Bennett to play with?
How are Johnny's and Sean's contracts talk going?
What are your plans for the goaltending situation?
What are the plans for Wideman?
What does your draft list look like?
And also before I begin, I would say please Mr. Brad Trevling, do not say the word "process" LOL.

Ask him if they use intel processors, and if they're quad core to allow for multiple simultaneous processes

I'd like to know
- What their thought is for the #4D. Jokipakka? UFA? Engelland? Wideman?
- How likely if Derek Grant returns and what role they envision him playing (4C? AHL depth?)
- What kind of expectations they're setting for Jankowski/Kulak/Wotherspoon (AHL all year?) /McDonald (ECHL? Overager?)

Treliving probably uses an HP touchscreen laptop with an i7 running Windows 10, because he's with the times.
Burke likely uses a Dell computer tower with a Pentium III running Windows Me, because he likes big, huge, slow machines.
Jokes aside, please ask him about Ortio, and what he thinks of his position in the organization moving forward.

I hate to say this but does anyone sometimes get the impression that a guy like Treleving sometimes might over think things and over analyze?
Before some people jump all over me here some people in business can over analyze things and some people don't do enough homework. The reason why I have SOMETIMES gotten this impression is during the interviews he gives to the media. He seems to dig into every single little detail, especially with this coaching hire. He has gone on and on and on about what he wants, the qualities he looks for and it just sounds like sometimes hes trying to reinvent the wheel.
When it came to extending Bob Hartley it was all analysis upon analysis so that we can give him a 2 year deal and then fire him half way through.
I recall at the beginning of the season the level of analysis when it came to the 3 goalies and him signing UFA Ramo. He would go into such detail as to the reasoning but sometimes it sounded like he only signed him to a 1 year deal was so that he had an asset to potentially trade for a 4th round pick or something. He went into a lot of detail why this would work and how 3 goalies aren't an issue despite the so called "experts" and the ex goalies saying its an issue. Low and behold at the end of the season it was admitted that it wasn't a good environment at all for anyone and having 3 goalies certainly didn't help the team in any way.
In any event I didn't mean to shred the guy but some of the decisions seem to have been over analyzed when potentially the results could have been better forecasted. He still is a fresh GM in a lot of ways too so perhaps he tried to avoid mistakes as much as possible.
Just my thoughts.

Sort of to that point, ask has he ever over thought or over analyzed a signing or transaction to the point that that he talked himself out of it

|
He actually never said that digging into every single little detail is important, he said building a profile and seeing who is the right fit is what took so long. This coaching hire has taken about as long as when Feaster hired his brother-in-law...

|
The reasoning was very straightforward. Ortio didn't have enough of a resume to be ready to back up, but there was a risk of him being claimed in waivers, as Berube and Poulin were. Ortio has a high ceiling and losing him to waivers would potentially cost us a future starter.

We actually weren't the only team to keep 3 goalies on roster this year. The other team? they had the 9th best team save percentage in the NHL (.915) and were in the second round of the playoffs.
The 3 goalies thing is an example of something where the results are being overanalyzed.
