Infant Bike helmet - where do I go?
My boy is 10 months old and he babbled something to me today that I interpreted as I wanna go bike riding.
So where do I buy a helmet for a child under a year old?
Go

I'd imagine something like this would work.

I'll have to look harder at CT. I stopped in yesterday and grazed the isle but wasn't concentrating on it to much. I check sport check and Toys R Us with no luck

Infants have huge heads for a small body. I got my daughter into a chariot at around the same age and she fit fine into a normal kids helmet. Have a 15% off code, PM if you want it.

MEC has two different infant sized ones. I believe they are both under $25 and have quite a bit of adjustment. We just bought one the other day for our (small) 16 month old. Just measure your kids head and you'll know what size you need.

And after you find a bike helmet for your boy, be sure to stop by the cycling thread so we all know how windy it was, if you were with it or against it, and how much longer it took you to get him around the block than the day before.

I came in with the intention to recommend that you eat more cantaloupe. Fuzz beat me to it, sort of...

We were looking, but everything said your kids should be on/towed by bikes under 12 months I think because the noggin vibrations.
I have no idea if that's one of those "You should sterilize bottles and anything else your kid touches" guidelines or a "Your kid shouldn't ride in your lap while you drink and drive" guidelines.

OK, now you gotta test it. Grab a baseball bat, or something similar and beat the tar out of it. Make sure your kid is NOT in the helmet at the time. If it holds together, it is safe for your kid. It's how the pro's test them.
CSB, a friend of my brother's did this with his brand new helmet he bought at a school program in grade 6. Thought he was being really cool, until the guy selling them said any impact meant you had to replace it. His parents were not impressed.

wind direction and speed aside, I thought I read somewhere that kids should be about 14 months old before you put them in a chariot type device.
I thought it had something to do with neck strength to hold up their heads.
