Has a team ever hired a head coach a season in advance before? This is a new one on me.
An evil thought occurs: Suppose, for some reason, the Blues fall flat in '16-17 and wind up getting rid of most of the coaching staff before the season ends. Could it turn out that Yeo is the first guy ever fired after a negative number of games as head coach?
Chicago once fired a coach after two games – Godfrey Matheson, 1933. Will that record be surpassed?
OK, none of this is at all likely. It's just such an unusual process, I can't help being silly with it.
