QOTD: June 1st - what player in Calgary's draft range have you soured on?
Same idea, but the opposite view
Which player has most turned you off? Didn't need to be a guy that you wanted at 6 and now don't, but the guy that was in your bubble that now isn't.

Nylander. A very "pretty" player, but I don't see that type of player fitting on the Flames or in this conference. Only player I might be disappointed if they draft him.

Dunno about "soured" but I fail to see the upside in Juolevi. Strikes me as a vanilla #3/#2.
I'm least high on Gauthier though.

I went with OTHER. I think that Matthews kid and whoever the oilers & nucks pick are all going to turn out to be garbage.
In all honesty, I'm somewhat indifferent because none of these guys have stood out in either a good or bad way compared to each other. They're all pretty good so I'm just happy we're getting someone in that group.

I think a lot of people are misinterpreting this poll.
In order to sour on somebody, you must have liked him first.

By those standards, Chychrun.

I don't consider McLeod or Gauthier as legitimate players at 6 so of the that I suppose are legit options at 6, Chychrun looks like the guy that is going to slide due to hockey sense being a concern. That said the Russian factor of Sergachev worries me a bit as well. I would prefer not to use a pick this high on a Russian if players of other nationalities are available and better or as good prospects.

I'm still too much of an optimist to say I've soured on any of these guys.
However, the one player's stock to have fallen the most in my eyes would be Puljujärvi. At one time I felt he would be the guy to take at 2, no questions. Now I think it's pretty clear that Laine is not only the better player to take now, but most likely going forward.

Out of the group, I'd say Chychryn. Of all the recent early season top guys who started to slide, Cam Fowler stands out to me as being one that eventually made a decent impression in the NHL. But other than him, a lot of guys who slid...did so for good reason.
I'd be a bit sour if the Flames used the #6 overall pick to select him.

I hate that Flames are gonna pick someone at 6th overall and some people will be unhappy with the choice

He's fallen one spot so I don't see how you can say he's fallen the most. Personally I feel he could turn out better to be a better all around pro than Laine because he has a more complete game. If possible I feel he's being a little underrated.

Haven't soured on any of them, but don't want us to pick a D with this pick.

Through my perspective I certainly can. At one time I saw him as the clear cut #2, possibly #1 if you consider the potential. However, as the year went on and I was able to see a bit of both Laine and him here and there, it became clear to me that Laine was already ahead of Puljujärvi now and his dynamic made me feel he would be even better in the future.
To me they play the same game, so I definitely wouldn't say Puljujärvi's is more 'complete'.

Draft Pick

Tkachuk is being mentioned as the for-sure #4, but Dubois seems to be sliding in some prognosticator's estimations. He's thought, by some, to be a safe, reliable, meat and potatoes grinder with decent offensive skill. He might be okay as a complimentary piece but don't you want more from a #6 pick?

If the Oilers go with Tkachuk the only way Dubois slides past the Canucks is if they like Brown better as they are almost surely (based on the trade they just made) taking a center.

Juolevi. He looks to me like a Bouwmeester type. Good at most aspects of the game but not great at anything. Probably a slightly underwhelming offensive upside mixed with being a "good" overall Dman. Not a bad prospect, but not the kind of guy I want to spend a 6 overall pick on.
