I'm a star choice subsciber and have been looking into geting the DSR505 with the recent price drop to $200 and a $50 PPV credit it looks tempting. I do have a HDTV ready TV and am wondering if HDTV contend is worth spending the extra money on a new reciever? With the upcoming NHL season I'm hoping that Sportsnet will air a few HD games.

Think of it this way- you spent a couple of thousand dollars on an HDTV, and now you want to know if you should spend another $200 to be able to see what sets your $3000 TV apart from a $1000 TV.

Getting an HD receiver was a no brainer for me, and my TV isn't even HD.

To put it another way, I hate baseball, but I have watched several games because they were in HD. The picture quality; the Dolby Digital sound................

To put it yet another way- GET OFF YOUR WALLET!

Bell's is $599 with a $50 credit. It has two tuners, so you can watch two seperate channels on two TVs, I believe. Not promoting anything, just an option.

^ 2 tuners means you can record one show and watch another which is a handy feature. I think you might be able to record 2 shows that are on simaultaneously as well.

There is NOTHIGN like High Def. Football in High def is AWESOME.

I have yet to see a hockey game in high-def, and by the sounds of it, it may be a while.

Yes, we all know, once you are maried its all down hill so you might as well buy all the cool shinguard now before you have to spend money on linen.
