Not Naslund, be he Mats or Markus.
Not Alfie.
Not Sundin.

I was lucky enough to know Hakan Loob a little bit. My aunt used to work a lot at the Scandinavian centre and somehow got to be friends with A few Swedish Flames throughout the 80's and 90's. I got to meet Hakan Loob, Thomas Forslund and Roger Johansson. Anyways, Loob had 2 kids, the youngest was my age and we were pretty good friends until they moved back to Sweden. I still remember I got a little remote control boat from them for my birthday when I was 6. When Hakan realized I really loved hockey and the flames, he got me a bunch of old sticks and his old red helmet. I remember using Rick Wamsleys stick for street hockey, and I used to wear the helmet playing shinney, more because it was so funny looking. Then before they moved back they gave a bunch of their old furniture away and my parents somehow got their bed, and it was handed down to me growing up, and I used the frame all the way up until about 5 years ago... It was a pretty sweet bed. Anyways cool story bro, I know... But he's always been my favourite flame!.

That is so NOT a 'cool story, Bro' story. That's pretty damn cool. Do you still have the helmet?

That is a wonderful tale. No sarcasm, no green text. Very cool. I second the above question.

When he moved back to Sweden, the Flames didn't just lose an elite forward - they lost a vital glue guy. By all accounts, he was a great teammate and liked by everyone.

Oh man the Scan center, great times.
I used to go to pretty much all the games in 85-86 with my friend, and we'd go down when they went out for warmup, the first time Loob came over to sign this big Flames card we made, I told him I was from Iceland and that he was my favorite player, from that point on everytime he saw me he always remembered my name, would call out THOR! and say hows my Icelandic friend today... He was truly one of the most kind and giving people the flames ever had, when he left the flames to return to Sweden I was so sad.
The first Flames jersey I ever bought of course was his number, wish I didn't lose it moving over the years.

One of my all-time favorite Calgary Flames for many reasons including his stick handling ability, accurate shot, and ability to turn on a dime with and without the puck. Impressive set of skills, however when you watched him play he thought the game ahead of most players. Superlative hockey sense.
When Hakan left abruptly after the Cup win, it left a huge void with the franchise. Couldn't imagine this set of skills with today's rules and equipment...scary hockey player.
And then there's the helmet

i recently found my Loob jersey that i wore when i was 16 or so. needless to say, it is pretty small now and i cant wear it but it is cool to see, brings me back to the late 80's. it would be cool to get him to sign it and then hang it on the wall. great player. still surprised he remains the only swede with 50 goals

If you say "Ask Hakan Loob" 10 times really fast, it sounds funny.
