Default Worlds Oldest Person Dies at 116

Quote:
Born on an Alabama farm in July 1899, Susannah Mushatt Jones was also the last living American born in the 19th Century.
She lived in three centuries, through two world wars and 20 US presidencies.
An Italian woman, Emma Morano, now takes on the title of oldest person in the world, and is thought to be the last living person to have been born in the 1890s.

119 yrs. Wow. The changes and advances in the world she would have witnessed first hand. That's incredible. And she ate 4 pieces of bacon a day!

It is pretty wild to think about the things she lived through:

WWI
WWII
Segregation: She was in her 50s when Rosa Parks sat at the front of the bus
Black women couldn't vote until 1920s
Invention of mainstream automobiles, refrigerators, modern lightbulbs, etc...

Two scientists have a bet on whether someone alive today will be alive in 2150. Some think that aging is something that can be solved by science.

The funny thing about the state of the worlds oldest person dying is that it's a constant not a variable or sudden event. Just like the last person born in the 1800's has died. The last person born in 1900 is next.

That's probably already happened. How many 115 year old people can there be?
