Icon37 Senators hire Guy Boucher as HC | Marc Crawford as associate coach

Quote:
OTTAWA - Ottawa Senators general manager Pierre Dorion announced today the hiring of Guy Boucher as the club’s head coach. Boucher has agreed to terms on a three-year agreement with the Senators.

Boucher, 44, becomes the 12th head coach in Senators franchise history. Boucher has spent parts of the last three seasons as the head coach of SC Bern of the National League A in Switzerland, posting a 44-29-5 record. Prior to that, he spent two-plus seasons as the head coach of the National Hockey League’s Tampa Bay Lightning, posting a 97-78-20 record in 195 games. Boucher led the Lightning to the Eastern Conference Final in 2010-11.

And just like that, there is only two teams left looking for coaches. ANA and CGY. Voucher might be a good fit in Ottawa.

Too bad it wasn't Carlyle so we could all breathe a sigh of relief.

Flames recall TJ Brodie from the Heat.

So best HC with experience left is....

... Bob Hartley.

We are hiring the next Jon Cooper or Dave Haxtol.

Well, Dineen has HC experience. So does Gulutzan.

Unless your measure is most experience, I suppose.

Plucky guy, good attitude, didn't have a great last season but did a lot with almost nothing the season before. A lot of people blame Hartley's troubles on the goalie situation that the GM caused though.

I don't know, I say give him a shot!

I was hoping Hartley would get the job. Maybe it was time for him to move on but I think he's a NHL coach.

Yikes. Not a fan. Hated the way he coached the Lightning. Who's his top assistant as he will be the interim coach in two years when Boucher is gassed.

Just say no to Crawford. Don't really get all the hate for Carlyle. He's the last coach to get the Leafs to the playoffs.
