Phew, only 45:49 worth of Gaudreau highlights this year...
14/15 had slightly more at 46 minutes but included Penticton, more pre-season games, and 2 playoff rounds. So that goes to show how much better Johnny was this last season. I'm scared for next year already.
I added a poll to the Part 1 thread asking which video people want next. Looks like it's Monahan, which isn't much of a surprise. Thankfully that should be fairly quick as well since there is a decent amount of crossover. I'll throw another poll up in that thread eventually but I am guessing it'll be Bennett (26 votes) or Brodie (24).
Once again the video was automatically blocked in Sweden and Finland, so sorry anybody that can't see it for that reason! I think there's some easy workarounds though. I would guess it's some relationship between the NHL and those countries that's causing the problem. If the Flames end up landing Laine or Puljujarvi I'll have to try a few workarounds (flipping the videos around or covering up a portion of the video possibly).
Great work, as usual! Gaudreau is spectacular. It's interesting to see him play the body. He's such a smart player that he uses great angles defensively. I'm so excited to see him get even better. Hopefully the refs start protecting him a little bit from the slashes.
Also, I think Monahan might be one of the best players in the league at the middle position of the 1-3-1 powerplay. He gets good shots off from there so consistently and I don't think it's easy to do. There is always someone converging on that spot, so he has to be aware of where everybody is.
I'm already getting excited for next season!

Yeah, his OT dominance this year solidified his star status I think. Especially given how much he victimized some elite hockey players, see Seabrook vs CHI, and the way he manipulated Weber on that Backlund goal.
I'll put together an OT wins video too, which obviously will be essentially 90% Johnny.
Man, watching Johnny in the retro jerseys just makes me wish there was a young #14 on his opposite wing. The entertainment factor would be through the roof.
Hopefully the Flames assemble a bit more talent around this kid (starting with this draft).
These clips also show that Monahan's goal scoring mostly just requires him to occupy the slot, keep his stick on the ice, and wait. Pretty much all Johnny needs him to do.

Monahan also has an elite shot to be fair. Not to mention his patience in the slot.
I was really impressed with Mangiapane in camp last year. Looks like he could be another steal. Also loved seeing him play with some grit pushing and shoving with Kanzig at one point not backing down.
was watching prospect highlight youtube videos, so incredible that we don't have to win a lottery to have johnny for years and years.
also it's remarkable how much stick-work gaudreau is subjected to. people who doubt his ability to survive the physical rigours of an nhl career, should have a look at how determined he plays through hacking and slashing. it seems to be a part of the defensive game plan for nearly all our opposition and he just walks through it night after night.
as the colour man johnson says he is one of the best at gaining the zone and taking the puck to the high slot, a place you pay the price to get to.
Just a quick update: I'll have my Monahan video out hopefully by tomorrow or Monday.
I also came up with a new intro that I'm going to use, though I'm tempted to go and stick it onto my Gaudreau videos and re-upload those as well. Which would be super easy to do.
