Lottery Fix - April 26th
http://www.calgarypuck.com/2016/04/l...ix-april-26th/
Not the worst, but certainly not the best ... I'm in the 5 range.
Flames how now drafted Tkachuk 6 times in 16 simulations.
Interesting that the Canucks have had a lower average draft position than the Oilers so I'm getting something right. (reaching)

Not great but more bad than good. 4 for me.

Taking a while to get to 5000
|
Pro: No Oilers in the top 3
Con: Canucks
Silver lining: Flames get Tkachuk to play alongside Bennett
Yeah, 5 seems fair.

That tankathon website where I run the simulator has Tkachuk going 4th in all their mocks. The more I read about him the more I want him if we can't draft top 3. He and Bennett could be an amazing duo and his offensive numbers are great

Blech, I like this less than most. 3 for me.
Not a Tkachuk hater, but I think I would rather have any of the other top 7, including Nylander.

It would be interesting to see who the Jets would pick at #7.
Their small skilled forward list: Ehlers, Little, Connor, Petan, Perrault is a bit full ... Would they bother to trade down or just pick McLeod ... they went off the board with Scheifele in a similar spot and won big.
Same dilemma Bingo had the Flames in a few Lottery simulations ago.

The "Official Lottery Simulator" at nhllotterysimulator.com is awesome. You get to see the odds in real time as the balls are chosen.

I like Tkachuk quite a bit, and the Oilers didn't win. 6th is basically average, so I don't think it's that bad.
This is basically the type of result that would be classified as "average" IMO

I honestly can't wait until Saturday and not because I'm expecting great things. I just want to know who's picking where so we can debate who will take whom and get a better idea of where Calgary is sitting.
So much up in the air with a 3 team lottery, and two teams leaning defenders in a top heavy forward draft.
Obviously I'd be happy to take any of the top three ... seems like Dubois has become a safe 4, and I'd love that.
But then things get really sketchy. I like Tkachuk but he's gone if the Oilers/Canucks both pick top three, and likely the Flames pick if they're not and the Flames are 6th.
7th really clouds things.
Having said all that ... I still ponder what 60 days of digesting pick #2 would be like.

Awful.
I can deal with Toronto getting the 1st overall. They earned it.
However, Vancouver getting the 2nd pick really bothers me.
But the worst is seeing a team in the Boston Bruins, who just missed the playoffs and were quite good most of the year, leapfrog much more deserving teams to get the 3rd pick. That would really piss me off if it were to happen.
I can accept the Flames dropping a spot because the odds say they will, but the other 3 results are pretty terrible.

The thing about the lottery and this exercise you've been doing is that Calgary shows up enough times in the top 3 to give some semblance of realistic hope.
You see Boston pop in there once and it's kind of an anomaly. But Calgary has had their fair share of representation in the top 3, enough to hold a bit of hope for some luck come Saturday. While the odds are firmly against them just as they are anyone, the percentages are still enough to irritate us all to the point we want to remain and speak in truths for a 5th maybe 6th, yet quietly all remain quite intent on striking it rich.

I seem to have worse luck with it, but it is interesting. I am fully preparing for disappointment Saturday.

If the Flames miss out on the top 3, but still get Tkachuk, I think I'd still consider that an organizational win.
Weird that in Bingo's 16 iterations, the Flames have never come in 5th. It's looking more and more likely that it's going to either be one of the lottery spots or 6th/7th.

Only a 9.1% chance of drafting fifth.

Nice feature. (Btw: Ran it once. Calgary, Columbus, Montreal, in that order. Not running it again; I'm keeping that result!)

Do we even mind the Canucks in the top 3? Like, if the Canucks get Patrick Laine, it'll only be two years before we trade Tyler Wotherspoon+Pat Sieloff of Patrick Laine.
