Default Excel Help

Thank you kind Excel Gurus for your anticipated help.

I have a spreadsheet that counts how often a player plays a particular position or sits. It then converts it into percentages.

It has tabs for 13 games. I need more.

I was able to figure out how to add a tab manually: insert tab, copy previous tab. Easy. Then I figured out that I just needed to add a new function to account for that tab. Again, pretty easy. I then copied this new formula into each of the position columns. Good for one player.

However, I need to do this for 14 players over another 20 or so games.

Here is a link to the sheet if you are able to take a look, the position tracker link:

It is is the summary tab that is the issue.

Is there an easier way to do this?

(Any cheap web developers or students that want to help us with the site are more than welcome to reach out as well. I know it is fugly.)

Thank you for any help you can provide.

There's lots of different ways to go. Not sure if having multiple tabs is a necessary thing for you. It may be of interest to use more of a database design for the data - by that I mean putting the game # and game dates into the main column areas. For every new game, just add more rows. Can add some filters etc for easy access to the game #s.

At that point you can more easily aggregate / pivot / powerpivot your way out of things.

There a a bunch of SAIT grads (new media and web developers) that might be able to help out on the site. Send me a pm if you want to know more.

Regarding the excel sheet, if you want to use what you have, I can write you a excel macro that will automatically update the formula's each time you add a new tab. Given what you have so far, that should be pretty easy to do.

Really looks like you should be pivoting the data.... add a column where you put G1, G2....etc instead of putting it into separate tabs.

If you are suggesting a pivot table, I would counter with a sumifs statement, much more powerful and it is dynamic, while a pivot table is static.

I had to take an intro Microsoft Office class many years ago. The teacher presented to us using an excel file showing examples of what to do and what not, complete with basic steps. He let us save the file for personal use and I still have it. If you or anyone may want it, feel free to PM me your email and I can send it off.
