I got my new LCD monitor, works great with no dead pixels, sharp clear image, and a good contrast ratio. I also have my new 9600XT all in wonder video card installed to use as my TV Tuner so I can watch TV on my PC while I do other things. The reception is nice and clear, and being able to rewind and pause live TV is really nice.

The only thing missing from making my setup complete is a remote. From ATI's website their AIW remote is $35 w/o shipping. On eBay it's basically the same price, give or take a few bucks.

I'm looking for something a bit cheaper. Are there any alternatives, such as possibly buying a universal remote from Radio Shack or somewhere that might work? Those of you with TV Tuners, what remotes do you use, if any? Right now it's not that bad because I'm able to change the channel simply by pressing numbers on the keyboard, but if I'm laying down on the couch I'd like to be able to have a remote with me so I don't have to get up every time to press the keyboard.

Suggestions? Thanks in advance.

I have an Haupaugge remote that came with my Pvr350. The trick you are going to have is that you will need a remote AND a receiver. What do you have to receive the signal from the remote?

Well, yes of course I will need the receiver. I was just wondering if there were any retail stores like Radio Shack that would sell some sort of Universal Remote with the essential receiver. I really have no idea if they exist, so I just wanted to know if my only option is purchasing the $35 remote + receiver from ATI.

Does Hauppauge sell individual remote/receivers seperate from the Pvr? If so, could you possibly send me a link?

Have you thought about getting a wireless keyboard? It would be a bit bulky but might be a cheaper option

When I was at uni and watched movies on my comp had a wirless keyboard and would use it from my bed to fast forward/pause etc.

Yes I actually thought about that last night

I am contemplating that. A remote would be my first choice, but I would probably lean towards a wireless keyboard as my 2nd option rather than spend $35+ on a remote. I think that's just too much. $20 or below and I would probably dish it out.
