Boy this has the potential to be a massive time suck. I've just gone through and read a few - fascinating to get insight into the true feelings of both media members and league officials - and how they deal with each other. A peek behind the curtain I don't think we've ever had.

Campbell is going to become a lightning rod now.

"Van Ryn is a woos and soft" said that he should be suspended for putting himself in a bad position.

Colin Campbell is going to be seen as a cancer/barrier to fixing this.

Absolutely crazy. I would never have guessed that he and Dreger had this kind of access. This seems unethical.

Not sure why you are trying to take these out of context and frame it like Mckenzie and Dredger have undue influence on the league or are required to be impartial behind closed doors.

In the Perry email Bob even puts a little smiley and Campbell jokes back how much Mckenzie dislikes him.

Those emails are interesting insight into the relationships and attitudes of the media guys and the league. Not surprising tho. Did anyone expect that a bunch of guys in a profession that is like a fraternity don't stay friends when they retire? Or in this case make friends with the media guys who cover the game for 20 years.

Interesting to note that one email says Mckenzie's son had serious concussion issues and the person writing, forget who probably Campbell, says that's why he hates head shots.

Also have to agree Campbell comes across as a total buffoon. i get its probably natural for him to use salty language and he thought he was emailing friends as much as representing the NHL but he seems to have no problem badmouthing just about anyone.

Default NHL emails released

Ran through 10-15 of the docs before hand. Crazy stuff!

Campbell does repeatedly say he doesn't like fighting, wonder if the NHL is fully against it and this point and it's the PA that is solely keeping it in?

Boy there is just mountains of juicy stuff here.
But part of me thinks this humanizes all these guys. That's not how it will play out - but when I read these emails, it strikes me how similar they are to what we all likely deal with in our jobs on a daily basis.

just found it interesting they were so involved in day to day discussions with the league office, not that it was evil or wrong

Now this is interesting. Not sure who hand wrote the notes.

From GM meeting about fighting.

73-74 flyers had less fights (58) than the top 3 players with fighting majors in 08-09. That's nuts.

Ok fair enough. Seemed like you were posting with an agenda there by picking out juicy tidbits and framing it as evil Mckenzie and Dreger. My apologies. Carry on. Nothing to see here.

These are the guys who are in charge of the safety of the NHL? They seem pretty heartless and apathetic to concussions and head shots. Real concerning.
