You have to think there is something about Shinkaruk that doesn't sit right with Weisbrod. Flames seemingly wanted nothing to do with the kid when he was our AGM during that draft, then Weisbrod goes to Van and next thing you know they are looking to ship Hunter out of there ASAP.
Like the trade so far. Hopefully in the long run we are laughing.

I like this kid. I know he got some flack on draft day, but he's been a great fit so far. I think he'll be a real good asset going forward.

I am counting the days when the Canucks trade for our meddling AHL prospect Mark Jankowski (assuming Weisbrod and Benning are still employed there for the next 2 years)...

It's infuriating. That was just a ****ing useless trade, ****ing trade our best AHL prospect for a scrub before we even give him a chance.
Nice real nice.
It's embarrassing how much better the flames organization is treating Shinkaruk then the Canucks.
Shinkaruk just scored a nice deflection goal. I'm already having a bad day. This angers me greatly.
I hate Benning, Weisbrod and Linden so ****ing much.

@H_S_9 great goal tonight sticking it to the Canucks

This guy is a Canucks fan but hates Benning and Linden. He also loved Gillis so anytime a Gillis pick does something for another team he's all over it.

It's funny because for some reason Benning and the Canucks doubt Shinkaruk's goal scoring will translate. Presumably due to size I guess.
Meanwhile I still think Baertschi and Granlund will have trouble being successful offensive players in the NHL because they aren't big enough, strong enough and fast enough. Shinkaruk is faster, more agile and elusive and more gritty than either Sven or Markus. I think we might've gotten the best of the undersized forwards in question.

Meddling? Middling? Neither really fit as Jabkowski is one of our best prospects, not a middling one.

IMO, he is the best forward prospect we have. Certainly the best centre prospect. Maybe the only our only real centre prospect (less sold that Arnold ever sees NHL action by the day).

Exactly. He is our best C prospect.
He is as good defensively as Arnold. And as good on the dot. He is also bigger, faster, has better hands, and has more hockey smarts.
If Jankowski were centering Gaudreau and Hayes at BC, I can't imagine what his point totals would have been.
And some people would rather have taken the late second. Amazing.

I am not a huge Shinkaruk fan and I really liked Granlund but this trade makes no sense from the Canucks perspective. Flames gave up a prospect/player that wasn't going to be on the team next year for a player they control for two years. Just from asset management it is a great deal for Calgary.
I am slowly warming to Shinkaruk on the Flames though, I like his jam so far.

My feelings as well. He still has a very punchable face, but at least it's our punchable face.

That trade just came out of the blue and while it made a lot of sense for the Flames seeing Granlund was likely going to be a waiver wire player next season (to which the Canucks will likely be in a place where they may get first or second dibs to claim him anyway) I simply don't see why the Canucks felt it was the right time to cut bait with Shinkaruk.

I'm still cool on Shinkaruk, the Canucks stink hasn't rubbed off just yet. But he's growing on me, and it creates an interesting fight for the top six next training camp.

The kid certainly has a nice pair of mittens, I was worried about lingering problems with his hip affecting his skating, but they don't seem to be a concern. It could turn out be another nice trade pulled off by BT.
