http://globalnews.ca/news/2602765/fa.../?sf23226692=1

One man is dead and one man in custody (alcohol might be a factor)

May remain closed until the morning according to CPS.

4 others in hospital.

Yeah I drove by, very sad. Very surreal accident. Don't know how people are going to get home, it was right under the Crowchild Glenmore off ramp/bridge. Worst possible spot for an accident.

It was about 20 cars in front of me. I've never seen that many emergency vehicles in one spot. Was able to turn around and go thru mount royal. As we passed over the over pass we saw the scene. What a massacre. Never seen a collision like that in my life.

I drove past I'm guessing no more than 5 seconds after the accident. First time I've seen a dead body. I had to tell my kids not to look. I saw people reefing on the door of another car trying to get the poor old lady out. She was barely conscious. It was absolute carnage, I'm still kind of in shock over it. 5 seconds earlier and I easily could have been involved, with my kids in the vehicle.

A pickup truck had been driving westbound on Glenmore when it attempted a lane change but sideswiped another vehicle before it crossed the centre median, police say.

The truck then veered into oncoming traffic, hitting a Jeep head-on, Staff Sgt. Paul Stacey said. A third vehicle, heading east at the time, was also hit in the aftermath.

The driver of the Jeep, a man believed to be in his 60s, was declared dead at the scene. Fire crews extricated a woman from the vehicle and rushed her to hospital in life-threatening condition.

The driver of the truck, who was not injured after the head-on crash, is in police custody to take a breathalyzer test.

Drunk drivers are rarely killed in the accidents they cause. =/

He must not have been buckled, because he wasn't in his vehicle. Hopefully the lady makes it.

Do they have cables or just concrete barrier between the lanes on that section of crowchild?

I think they are just barriers. Even so, no idea how cars manage to get over them to cause something like that. damn.

Nothing but about 5 feet of grass and curbs on either side.

Ahh, yeah. I kept reading the articles and thinking it was literally at the Crowchild overpass, not just down the road a bit closer to Richard Road.

It was basically right where you start turning left after going under the overpass heading westbound.

They might have been witnesses and shaken up themselves.

Still closed. Just went nearby on westbound Glenmore. Was heading towards crowchild anyway but all traffic was still being routed at way.

Horrible tragedy. Has any news outlet confirmed if alcohol was a factor? Drunk driving at 4pm Easter Sunday. That's sad.

There were a lot of people out helping, and a lot of witnesses. The road was pretty busy. A lot of people were out trying to help immediately after, so heep is probably right. I would have done so myself had I not had the kids.

Words can't describe how shocking the scene was. Big clouds of smoke and dust with people rushing around frantically trying to help. It's something I won't forget for a long time, looked like a war zone.

I went through a check stop at 5pm on good Friday. Did seem odd.
