That didn't go as planned, but then again Phoenix lost so we're clinging to 8th!

Flyers clinch a playoff spot and Duchene now has points in 16 straight games.
Schneider stood on his head for this one.

Lost a close one to the team we are chasing and everyone else in the East seemed to win. Going to have to string a few together now.
Gambled going with Markstrom, however he didn't seem to be the issue.

Isles, Caps and Rangers all win. No change at the bottom of the standings.

Expect the Pens are inching closer. :-)

Sens keep getting a pile of shots and no goal scoring, at least Florida lost, but Tampa inches closer. The tenuous hold on 4th continues.

YES!!

Sharks go from 26th or 27h team overall last year to clinching a playoff spot and 8th overall in the league.

This all went better then expected!

Varlamov Day in Carolina

Took a huge chance as Varlamov CD was down to 98 and facing a huge 2 points trying to hold off the Bluejackets. Backstops the Hurricanes to a 1-0 shutout and eases the pain of Gio being out of the season while we try our best to hold on

I love seeing scores like that and performances like that in huge games.
The decision on whether to play a fatigued #1 v. a rested back-up in make or break games is a tough one!
On my cup run, I had Vokoun in net (I think) all the way down at 97 CON. I played him in Game 3 to go up 3-0, but then he was officially injured. Garth Snow stepped up to get the final win...his only win of that run.
Generally I play my #1 until they die.

You play the #1 when they're at 98-99 in the regular season? not criticizing or anything, but I have found (totally anecdotally and have nothing to back this up), that goalies at less than 100 are generally not as good? I'm not sure that I have really played guys at 98, maybe ever. Interesting.

That's a big reason why I love the 1a/1b I have going right now. I pretty much have one guy at 100 all the time.

I've never had success with a tired goalie but Kuemper hasn't been much of a No 2 and I was approaching the game like it was a game 7 elimination game... if I loose it then it really doesn't matter
