I always like these, thanks.

Just my 2 cents but I wouldn't put any of the D in as the goat. The forwards have been sketchy all year but tonight they played oilers level dumb managing the puck and coming back. Gaudreau in particular is trying to do way too much. The no look behind the back pass to the middle of the ice on the Coyotes 3rd goal was cringe worthy.

On a brighter note I thought I saw Monahan throw a couple hits last night. It stood out in a game where most of his team was a bit sleepy.

The NHL should trust that they offer a great product and be comfortable being who they are, and avoid reacting to twitter they way they did at the all star break. Embarrassing to see grown men act like frightened children. ….
From what I saw, the outrage wasn't even with hockey fans. Why the NHL caters to non hockey fans, I don't know.

Not a great game for Gio agreed, but Johnny did not have a good game either. Almost single handedly gave up a shorthanded breakaway in the 1st.

I agree on Gaudreau.

It's clear they've given him carte blanche on carrying the puck but at some point I think he'll either realize or be told that he has to mix it up a bit.

And he has to own situations when he's the last guy back straddling the blueline. You can't turn pucks over there.

Ortio wanders too much and tends to lose the net. The third goal being the perfect example.

It's true that Ortio was wandering on that one and had he stayed more in control he would have had a chance, so that was a weak goal. I think it's also fair to say that Hamilton should have been taking a stick on the backcheck instead of puck watching. Overall it's a pretty good representation of the Flames as a young team with guys who are trying hard but need that experience to become a stronger team.

Good point about the absence of top-six wingers. Gaudreau and Frolik are the only ones who are even debatable at this point. Treliving deserves the benefit of the doubt that he has a plan to address the line up, so I'm excited to see what transpires in the summer.
