CP Help! Stolen car
My SUV was stolen from in front of my house last night. Police are investigating and I was told there is a good chance it will be abandoned and recovered. Chances decrease after one week.
Please keep your eyes open for a dark blue Ford Explorer 2003, Eddie Bauer edition. There was a bike rack attached to the trailer hitch. Licence plate UBJ 080. Sun roof.
Thanks.

That sucks sorry to hear. I often pay attention to cars on the road especially unusual or rare models. Yours fits the above I don't see many Eddie Bauer editions out there will keep an eye out.

Increase, actually. Calgary has a roughly 80% recovery rate for stolen vehicles, but it generally takes 2-4 weeks. What usually happens is that someone takes it and joyrides it off to do whatever they do. Then they ditch it. After about 2-3 weeks, the folks who live where the vehicle is ditched begin to notice that the vehicle is not being moved and call the police (or Parking Authority) to check in about it. It's then discovered to be stolen, and returned.

Try posting this on beyond.ca as well those guys seem to find stolen cars quite quickly.
Good luck!

Honestly, you're probably better off if you don't get it back, but good luck. I'll keep an eye out.

Does anyone know if the park plus cars are wired into stolen vehicles plates? They scan a plate and it's a stolen vehicle then some sort of alert is triggered? If not, I could write an app for that!!

I have no idea, but that would be brilliant! We had a stolen car parked in front of our office for a couple of weeks because it was just regularly parked and I guess no one really knew. The parking isn't really enforced there, but in other areas that seems like it would be useful.

Take a look around the neighborhood tonight. I've known 2 people who've had their cars stolen and both were found ~10 minutes from their home.

When my car was stolen about 8 years ago, the police told me it was found due to some sort of camera that scanned license plates and cross checked against a database of stolen cars. I was also told that typically the car will be found in one of: 3 hours, 3 days, 3 weeks, or never.
It was on the 3 day mark that I got the call from the police to pick up my car from the impound lot.

This is another reason why Troutman rocks and isn't one of those sleezy lawyer types, he actually cares about his 12 year old SUV.
Good luck buddy!

Maybe he left it behind the couch, hey Trout did you look behind the Couch?
Hopefully the police find you're SUV
I remember reading once that the Eddie Bauers were very popular with car thieves

This.
My office is near chicken on the way. Every couple of months, an abandoned car gets towed from the alley. I'll go take a walk up the alley at lunch.
