great deal, the kid is a really good player. I'm glad he's his health concerns haven't got in the way of his long term career. I would have liked to have seen the Flames pick him but I still really like him as a player. Great deal for both sides IMO

It's certainly a good deal for the Pens. Seems unlikely that Maata will be any worse than a solid 2nd pairing guy during this term, so there's very little risk and you may get a couple of seasons' worth of first pairing quality from him if you're lucky.

Wow this is an excellent deal. I don't watch the Penguins too much but he is a young defenseman playing increasingly big minutes. Seems like he could have asked for Hamilton money.
