Icon33 Canadiens sign Paul Byron to 3 year extension ($1.167 mil AAV)

Congrats Paulie

http://canadiens.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=870228

Quote:
Montreal Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin announced Tuesday that the team has agreed to terms on a three-year contract extension with forward Paul Byron (2016-17 to 2018-19).

“We are pleased to have reached an agreement with Paul Byron. A fast-skating and versatile forward Paul has been an important addition to our team. He can contribute on the offensive side while being responsible defensively. Furthermore, he demonstrates an exemplary attitude and the qualities of a true professional. We’re proud to have him among our group of forwards for the next three seasons,” said general manager Marc Bergevin.

Way to go, Paulie! Flames' loss is the Habs' gain.

Good for him. Glad he has found some stability. Also glad it's not with the Flames.

Earlier this season you wondered how a waiver wire guy on one of the worst teams was a useful addition to a contender.

All was revealed as the season continued and it was realized Montreal is just as bad as Calgary.

Yeah, it's a great deal for Montreal, and congrats to Paulie.

But this signing makes me super angry.

Good for Byron. His absence on the PK has been huge. Happy he gets a full time NHL gig, he's a useful swiss army knife player.

For a guy who had to choose between guaranteed coin in Europe and playing in the AHL with the hope of getting back to the NHL just two years ago, this must feel great. Good for him.

Way to go, Paul! Hard worker with a great attitude who deserves every penny.

Still a shocking move by the Flames letting him go for free so they could juggle three backup goalies for a month. So predictable, too.

Without the knife. Good for him but I definitely don't miss the frustration.

I sure do miss him. Great PK'er who could play up and down the line-up and had sublime speed.

Glad to see him find a NHL home... I'm just sad it's not here.
