I've thought about doing this for awhile..what are you thoughts and questions about being rung up at 6:00pm and being pestered with questions?

I enjoy participating in market research studies. I don't like being called while I'm eating, but if I'm not doing anything, I'll take the call.

You're not as bad as those people from MNBA. Now that's annoying. I think they have a come back for everything you could say.

It's the fact that i'm on the east coast of canada and the 3 hour differnce that makes us have to call at during supper..theres only a few bbm call centers where out west..i wish more people had that attitude..what we do is relativly important to the products you buy...most people think we're telemarketers and hangup

All you have to say is "I'm not interested and I'd like to be removed from the calling list, please."

Usually, they just read the disclaimer script regarding it taking up to 60 days to remove your name from their system and they say goodbye.

Whenver someone of this nature calls, I politely inform them that "they" (being the person they are looking for) has gone overseas for a couple years and that I am house sitting for them. Would they by chance like to leave a message?

Haven't had charities/market research type calls in a long time.

Bye bye.

I find it pathetic that you need to lie to a complete stranger

I didn't think that would work. Thanks for the heads up!

I find it pathetic that the best excuse a marketer can come up with for annyoing me is the time difference

I find it pathetic that marketers put people who are in their own house in a position in which they feel they must lie to a person who is pestering them

I find it pathetic that time after time I asked to have people stop calling me yet often it keeps up, the same people, firm, co..

Generally the people will tell you what they are calling for right off the bat.

When, for example, they say "Hi I'm from Capital One" I hang up right away. I don't want to buy your crap and I don't need a credit card.

I have no problem at all taking surveys however. I'll answer whatever questions they have.

I used to get 4-5 phone calls per day asking if I wised to donate money to various charities that I had donated to in the past. I routinely support these charities with upwards of $1000 dollars per year, usually around Christmas time. I repeatedly stated that I did this to each and every caller for a couple of years.

It however, got to the point where I needed to do something. I still donate money to every charity and will continue to do so. I do not to be continually harassed into donating money. I am well aware of the charities that I would like to donate to.

Bye bye.

I used to do market research about a year ago, but I stopped because I just couldn't take some of the horrific things people would say to me. The name calling just wore on me after awhile.

When they call me, I say "You know I'm a little busy right now and can't talk, but if you give me your home phone number I'll call you later and we can discuss this."

They usually reply with "uh, what?" to which I say "What? You're gonna call me but I can't call you? Just gimme your number and we'll talk later."

They either hang up there or say something like "We're not allowed to give our home phone numbers", and then that's the point where I hang up.

do you realize what market research is?..it's doing surveys..NOT hawking credit cards or giving money to charity or any of that crap..we do a service by asking people what products and services they enjoy..can you see the difference?
