The Dedicated League Wide Player Value Thread

I thought that the mega thread for Trade Rumours and Speculation was getting a little too bogged down in discussion about player value, so here is a place where such matters could be discussed at length.

We can talk about 'players of the day' and then let the discussion come to agreement, or die a natural death. It also allows for more discussion on analytic value of players.

The current player that is being discussed is Ovechkin, and whether he is in decline as a player. My personal take would be that he is a more well rounded player now than he was six years ago, and is of more benefit to a Stanley Cup contender than a pure sniper would be.

Can we discuss the value of Mason Raymond? I believe it is similar to when you have the find the square root of a negative number and create 'i' for the value?

Fair enough. Considering the tradition and intention of the Trade Speculation Thread, I thought that this would be easier than making a 'News Only' thread, especially since a major event (in the trade deadline) is coming up.

If no one wants to use it, that's cool, that's cool.
