Regardless, that is pretty damn cool. Too bad his deke was lame.
Idea being the key word in the thread title.
Gaudreau talked about doing it at last years skills competition, but unfortunately he talked too much and it was nixed before he could. Should have just done it, better to ask for forgiveness than permission, that whole thing.

That actually looked better than I thought it would when Gaudreau brought it up last year. Also would have made way more sense for a Flames player. NHL is pretty lame for having an issue with this to begin with though.

Probably something to do with lighting a fire inside a building. Its usually frowned upon.

If you thought this season would have a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention.
Too bad the NHL nixed it. I don't see two much danger in it if there's a few extinguishers on standby by
The only danger I see is on the goalie, just don't do a crazy follow-through and he'll be fine!

I dont see any real danger in it, I mean, if the fire gets out of control just leave the stick on the ice. Its composite so theres nothing to burn once the fuel/tape is gone and if its on the ice...I cant see anything happening.
Even the goalie! I dont think hockey equipment, especially jerseys, are flammable.
But then again I do have extensive knowledge of insurance companies. Remember the outrage when the Women's team were smoking cigars on the ice after winning Gold in Vancouver?
Theres no way.
However anything goes in Russia.

If that's true then never mind that was my only real concern was if something else caught fire, I wouldn't expect the stick to get out of control, I think as long as the proper safety protocols were addressed it shouldn't be an issue. I thought the big issue last year was he didn't suggest it right away so they didn't have time to prepare for it.

NHL worried about a tiny flame on a tiny players stick citing "safety", but allows fighting where the key is to hit the opponent in the head repeatedly.
