Colborne has been painful to watch for a while now.

Hopefully when Frolik is ready to check back in, Joe checks out of the lineup.

I find the Colborne discussions on the site some of the most interesting and I see both sides. I see the turn overs, and I see the ability to use his frame to work things down low.

Last night the former group had all the ammo they need, he was bad.

Rough play by Colborne but I still see the guy as a worthwhile player on a good team. He is a third or fourth line player, with size and some offensive talent. For the Flames, the trick is not to pay him any more than that. There is a history of handing out some juicy contracts to bottom line, bottom pairing players, killing their trade value and and complicating the cap picture.

As you say it's nice to see the positives in Ferland and Bennett although it was a tough loss.

"Joe Thornton opened the scoring when he stole the puck off of Joe Colborne before completing a two on one with Joe Pavelski. "

Damn it, Joe.

I'm personally sick of the amount of rope Colborne gets from coaching staff and sometimes fans just on his size and "tools". any player of average size that has performed like him would have found a frequent spot in the press box by now. he is the ultimate example of how the old school hockey evaluation by height and weight is ridiculous. a team full of Sam Bennetts would be considered a smallish squad, but would play like a heavyweight and leave the opposition reeling.
