Default WJC Pre-Tourney: Canada vs Belarus. 10AM MT. TSN

The pre tournament begins. Should be able to watch this game and the Flames game back to back for a great hockey Saturday morning and afternoon.

Flames prospect Mason McDonald has been named Canada's starter. It is expected he will play at least half the game and then Montembault will take over. McDonald is hoping to have a bounce back performance after a self admitted bad performance against the CIS all stars last week.

It is unknown at this time if Brandon Hickey will play, however Canada is expected to dress 8 d-men and there are only 9 d-men left with the team so pretty good chance he will play.

Lines at practice:

Crouse-Strome-Marner
Perlini-Point-Virtanen
Quenneville-Beauvillier-Gauthier
Chartier-Stephens-Konecny
Merkley-Barzal-Hawryluk

Fleury-Juulsen
Chabot-Hicketts
Lauzon-McKeown
Dermott-Hickey
Sanheim

Mark Masters @markhmasters
Boston d-man Hickey calls going from NCAA to world jr camp “a pretty big transition.” Cites ice size & speed of game as biggest adjustments.

Mark Masters @markhmasters
Flames prospect Hickey: “Feel pretty good so far. Putting my best foot forward, playing well…that’s all I can do & hopefully they like me.

Is Hickey the d-man most on the bubble? Meaning he needs to put in some solid play in these pre-tourney matches.

McKenzie says lots of battle on D especially Dermott, Lauzon and McKeown. sounds like those 3 are the ones on the bubble.

Says Hicketts, Fleury, and Sanhiem have made the team.

Ha ha - TSN saying that the Belarus players had to endure a 20 hour bus ride to get to the rink in Finland yesterday, as opposed to a 2 hour flight option. This could be one of those 10-1 contests for Canada.

That TSN studio for the World Jrs. is done in first class style.

Would be surprising if any of them get drafted by a NHL team.

Good on the team for not celebrating their goals.

Konecny with a wrap around goal, and then Point bangs one in. 3-0 Canada before the 10 minute mark of the first.

Had 1 shift.

Fleury is getting tons of ice time. Not sure why, he is a lock should be spreading this minutes to bubble guys. Wow does Carolinas future blue line look good. Fleury, Hanifin, Faulk...

That rink is 100 ft wide - so much room on the PP!

Using 4 forwards 1 d on the PP. Strome is the point man.
