Workout App
Anyone know a good Android or IPhone app for going to the gym? I've tried virtua gym, but I'll be damned if I have to pay $60/year to log my workouts.
I'm looking for something that will handle various weight training regimens perhaps even suggests some as I haven't worked out in 7 years and kinda not sure anymore what I wanna do.

I've tried a bunch.
Always end up back with a pen and a piece of paper.
Sorry. Guess that wasn't very helpful.

Great one I use is Fitocracy. Lets you log workouts and gives you experience points, so you try and "level up". Also has quests you can accomplish for badges and such, great way to keep you motivated. Oh and it's free.

Jefit. Its free and wicked. Has tonnes of exercises, tracks everything you want to track and like I say the office is right. You can go to their forums as well and find different routines which will then sync to your profile, and of course you can alter these routines to adjust to things you like/don't like about their workouts.
I'm pretty cheap and hate paying for apps (apologies to the developers here, and I do after I see the quality!). I used jefit for a couple weeks and paid the $4.91 for the pro version. I would tot rally recommend this app though, they've done a great job!

I suspect you're not female so this female-centered app probably isn't for you, but maybe some of the other ladies on the board might enjoy it (men could probably do it too, I don't see why not). Nike Training Club (NTC) is my favorite workout app and it's free.

I thought Jefit was ok. I did some research and it was basically the best I could find based on reviews and even then... meh.
I still log with a pen and paper. And I wear a blue tooth heart rate monitor and use the polar beat app (free) to automatically log my heart rate, calories burned and all that good stuff.

Lifting Log is stupid simple and the best replacement to pen and paper I have found. Doesn't do anything other than the basic log, but i like it better than pen and paper as it is easier to scroll back an see past info. And it's free.

Can I just ask what the point of logging workouts is? I used to write info on a calendar and then I stopped at the end of the year, and couldn't figure out why I was doing it to begin with.

I do it so I remember what weight I used last time and how may reps I managed. Since I also vary my activities a lot, I can see which ones have been neglected. It really only takes a second once you have your exercises setup. You just click "finished set", enter weight and reps, and a countdown starts to remind you not to slack off between sets. Beeps when its time for the next one.
