The Leap Year Ripoff
Well, time for another February 29th, the day us salary folks work an extra day for free! How's that, you ask? Good question! You see, if you work 28 years on salary, you will on average work through 7 leap years, meaning you work for 28 years + 7 days, 5 of which will be week days. That's 5 extra unpaid work days! I petition that all February 29th's should be holidays, thus fixing this grand injustice.

Saw that earlier and forgot to add that to my post. Thanks! The struggle is real.

I'm sure most people spend more than 5 days a year on the internet at work, let alone the time spent over a career.

This year is the only year I've felt lucky to be working on a leap year day.

Maybe we all got slightly less than a 1/4 day off the last 4 years?

Nope, I clearly explained it in my post. The man is the one coming out on top, us peasants slave for free. This is an injustice, and I will not rest until it is fixed, or it is March 1st and I have 4 more years to forget about it. But mark my words, in 4 years I'll be back, angrily shaking my fist at the plutocracy taking my grievance to the highest powers in the land. Or posting on a message board. Probably the later.

Ok I think it's fair that salaried folk get compensated for Feb 29th.
And since for three out of four Februarys you're under-performing compared to other months, those years you get paid noticeably less for February.

No, I had no idea that was a thing. I'd check, but it is less work to complain.

I agree it should be a holiday. Definitely don't feel like working on my birthday, and I'm still nursing a hangover from the weekend.

On the bright side, it pushed Canada Day and Remembrance Day to a Friday this year.
