I love this idea! I couldn't be bothered to watch as it is now, but this sounds much more fun. Having 4 (or more) teams could suit the draft format well too.

Yes, I've always wanted the NHL to do a tournament for the allstar games. At least games will be much more competitive

Pat Steinberg mentioned this probably during the first week of the season, makes sense with 3 on 3 especially being apart of the game now. I think it would be way more fun and exciting for all than the current all start games

Can they just scrap all the skills comps and make this the All-Star game?
Draft 8 teams live Friday night, have the tourney all day Saturday. That is something I could get behind.

I enjoy the skills competition but the all-day all-star tournament? Amazing idea.

This is actually a pretty sweet idea. I watch the All-Star game anyway because it's the All-Star game, but this would add some much needed flavour to it.

3 on 3 works because guys are skating hard with the game on the line.
3 on 3 in the all star game could work if its also sudden death. otherwise its still glorified shinny, only with 6 guys not playing defence instead of 10.

I agree.
Why in todays world is there such a thirst for competition? There are 1000 real games. Cant we have one fun east vs west game to celebrate?
When i was little the Flames even played exhibition games against soviet teams. If that happened now CP would implode

I think some people forget the All star weekend is mainly for the kids. I remember play nhl 95 and making sure all the best players were on my team before starting career play. It's simply a way to hook the next generation which is why I like the allstar game.
